100 Wishes Quilt

A tradition exists in China to welcome and celebrate a new life with a 100 wishes quilt. Custom is that family and friends contribute squares of fabric as well as a wish for the child. A quilt is made which is then passed on from generation to generation.

We are in the process of making a quilt for Bai Yu Fen, and would love for you all to participate by sending a square (or squares), along with a wish. Here is what you would need to do. The image here is a sample of another 100 wishes quilt just to give you and idea of what this really is.
  • The Wish/Prayer - Use and index card and glue a one inch scrap of your fabric to it with your wish for this wonderful little girl. It can be very simple or as elaborate as you would like, handwritten, or typed. Things such as a personal message, poem, prayer, Bible verse, etc. are all great ideas...even a picture. Don't forget to include your name. The cards are to be put in an album for Bai Yu Fen to retain forever.
  • The Fabric - Choose a machine washable, 100% cotton fabric. New or used is just fine. Cut a 12 X 12 square. The fun part is that it is all your choice!!
  • Send both items to the Sadler family. If interested, and you do not have our address, please email me through the blog, and I will send a separate message with our address.

More than one family member can participate if you like as well. Thank you in advance for considering a square for our new daughter.
