Orphanage Visit and Finding Spot

We had the chance to tour Avery's orphanage, along with travelling to the location where she was found. The time spent at the orphanage was worth the headache and backache of getting there. We spent about 5-10 minutes talking with the director and assistant director of the orphanage. From there, they took us to a room of older children, which was a total blessing. The children shown above are great, and we had a blast getting to talk and play with them. They were amazed with my cameras, so I spent time taking pictures and video of them, then showing them the images. I then got on the floor with them and got into the video with them and they absolutely loved the attention. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had. They were then led to their seats and they sang us 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' in English. Not wanting to leave the room, I went back to the children to give them all high fives, and they in turn shook my hand. I was overcome with emotion, and couldn't control the tears. It was a moment that I will never forget as long as I live.

Then the assistant director took us to the room that Avery lived in. It was much smaller than I anticipated, and there were about 8 other little girls in the room. They stared at both of us with their beautiful eyes, and we proceeded to each crib to tell each little girl hi. Two little girls smiled and waved, and the others just stared. It was much harder being in that room, and had to leave before the tears started flowing again.

We then said our goodbyes to the assistant director and were taken to Avery's finding spot about 30 miles away. The picture above is the location where she was abandoned. It was on a very busy street right in front of a medical building. Knowing this tells us her mother did this knowing that someone would find her.

It was good to see where Avery came from, and we are very thankful that God led us to this little girl, but we are looking forward to going home.
