We received some information about Avery yesterday from a family touring the Dianbai orphanage. Apparently Avery has undergone surgery to repair her lip in the last couple of weeks. We were shocked to hear the news, and not too sure how to react. Good is that the surgery is done, the bad is that we weren't there to comfort her. That's all we know at this point. We are inquiring with our agency to see if we can get any type of update regarding the procedure.
Also, we received our updated 171-H today from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services. Our former approval was set to expire on 1/6/2008, and could have held up our travel. However, the new approval is good for 18 months, so no need to worry about timing of travel anymore.
Finally, we are expecting to hear about our travel approval any day now. We are aware of other families with similar (and later) approval dates that received their travel approvals the day before Thanksgiving as well as another family receiving theirs today.
